Batch Application Engineer
Location:
Dallas, Texas – ONSITE/Hybrid
Contract: 12 months with potential extension


We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Batch Application Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise batch processing systems. This role focuses on scheduling, monitoring, and managing the execution of batch jobs to ensure efficient and reliable workload automation. The ideal candidate has a passion for automation, deep troubleshooting skills, and significant hands-on experience with Redwood RunMyJobs or similar scheduling tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience managing enterprise batch scheduling systems.
  • 2–3 years of direct, hands-on experience with Redwood RunMyJobs, including day-to-day administration and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of application upgrades, installations, and configuration management.
  • Experience designing and maintaining batch job dependencies, triggers, calendars, and execution windows.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve CI/CD and migration-related incidents.
  • Understanding of both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support for critical batch failures and incidents.
  • Some familiarity with other batch scheduling tools such as Control-M, IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler, or ActiveBatch.
  • Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate batch jobs and system monitoring.
  • Exposure to ITIL processes and best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, patch, and configure the Redwood RunMyJobs platform.
  • Design, implement, and maintain batch schedules aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Monitor job execution status, resolve errors or delays, and ensure adherence to SLAs.
  • Analyze and optimize batch job performance for efficient resource utilization.
  • Define execution times, job priorities, and scheduling logic.
  • Document troubleshooting steps, scheduling policies, and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with operations and project teams to ensure reliable batch processing integration with enterprise systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date system configurations, apply security patches, and perform regular system updates.
