Information System Security Officer (ISSO)
Location: Austin, Texas (ONSITE 5 days/week)
Contract Position: 18 month Contract (with strong potential for extension and career advancement)


We are seeking an experienced Information System Security Officer (ISSO). This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and mission-critical environment where cybersecurity is a top priority. The selected candidate will contribute to large-scale security initiatives, with the potential for long-term engagement and upward mobility.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, including as an ISSO or equivalent role.
  • 4 years of experience applying the NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and applicable state-level security standards.
  • 4 years of experience conducting and documenting risk assessments, including supporting documentation and reporting.
  • Active Security+ certification or equivalent.
  • Experience working under and managing critical project timelines.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical security topics to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform security assessments aligned with the NIST Risk Management Framework and applicable state-level standards.
  • Review account permissions, data access needs, programming changes, and potential security violations by engaging with users to assess access controls.
  • Coordinate the development and deployment of system security plans with both internal teams and external vendors.
  • Provide guidance to leadership and technical staff on secure configurations and procedures.
  • Design and recommend strategies to protect information systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other threats.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Conduct technical security assessments on both new and existing systems, including data center and physical security environments.
  • Research and recommend modern tools and processes for identifying, preventing, and responding to security threats and incidents.
  • Perform other security-related duties as assigned.
