Senior Test Automation Engineer
Contract: 12 months (with potential extension)
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Test Automation Engineer to support a Testing Enablement function focused on improving software quality, automation coverage, and testing efficiency. This role will design and develop scalable automation frameworks, establish testing best practices, and partner closely with development, product, and QA teams to identify opportunities for automation and shift-left testing. The ideal candidate is a hands-on automation engineer with strong framework development experience who can also provide technical guidance, mentorship, and governance across multiple application teams

Qualifications:
  • Strong experience designing and building test automation frameworks from scratch
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, JUnit, and TestNG
  • Experience with Appium and mobile test automation
  • Experience with desktop application automation
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines
  • GitLab CI experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
  • Strong understanding of reusable automation components, test data, frameworks, and automation best practices
  • Experience with defect management, test metrics, regression testing, and requirements traceability
  • Strong communication, analytical, mentoring, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and provide occasional after-hours support when required

Duties
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automated testing frameworks and reusable test components
  • Establish and promote automation standards, best practices, and governance across application teams
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, product owners, and QA teams to identify automation and testability opportunities early in the development lifecycle
  • Evaluate and select appropriate automation tools based on application requirements, including Playwright, Selenium, TestComplete, and Appium
  • Expand automated regression coverage and continuously identify additional opportunities for automation
  • Support CI/CD integration and help teams adopt shift-left and Test-Driven Development practices
  • Maintain automation artifacts and contribute to testing metrics, reporting, and overall project health assessments
  • Participate in requirements and business/functional analysis to identify automation opportunities for new functionality
  • Support defect documentation, prioritization, triage, and tracking in alignment with project requirements and traceability processes
  • Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to QA and application teams
  • Partner with Testing Enablement leadership to develop and implement reusable automated testing services
  • Monitor emerging testing technologies and recommend solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and delivery
  • Share automation insights, lessons learned, defect trends, and testing metrics with leadership
  • Demonstrate measurable improvements in automation coverage, defect identification, testing efficiency, and software quality
