Seeking an experienced Communications Leader to oversee high-profile public relations, media relations, crisis communications, and enterprise communications for a complex, highly visible organization. This role leads a team, advises senior leadership, manages sensitive issues, and develops communications strategies supporting major organizational, operational, and capital initiatives.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive communications, public relations, media relations, or journalism experience
- 4+ years managing employees, including performance reviews, coaching, and development
- Strong media relations experience, including spokesperson responsibilities, executive preparation, and proactive/reputational media strategy
- Significant crisis and issues-management experience, including urgent or after-hours response
- Experience supporting major capital, construction, infrastructure, or other large-scale initiatives
- Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, and executive communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in fast-paced, high-visibility environments
- Experience in transportation, government, aviation, utilities, critical infrastructure, construction/engineering, telecommunications, industrial operations, or similar environments
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated internal and external communications strategies supporting organizational priorities and reputation.
- Lead and develop communications staff through clear expectations, coaching, performance management, and professional development.
- Direct proactive and reactive media relations, build media relationships, prepare executives, and serve as a spokesperson when appropriate.
- Lead crisis communications during emergencies, operational disruptions, and other high-profile or reputation-sensitive events.
- Advise executives on messaging, communications strategy, stakeholder concerns, and reputational risk.
- Develop communications strategies supporting major capital, construction, infrastructure, operational, and organizational initiatives.
- Oversee executive communications, media materials, presentations, employee communications, digital content, and other high-visibility messaging.
- Coordinate communications across internal, external, digital, social, and earned-media channels.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, community partners, government entities, media, agencies, and outside vendors.
- Establish effective communications processes, standards, and response protocols while successfully managing multiple competing priorities.
