CAPPS Business Analyst
Contract: 12 months + multiple extensions
Location: Austin, Texas (Hybrid)


Calling all CAPPS professionals. Do you have experience working with Centralized Accounting Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS)?

We are looking for a team of strong Business Analysts to assist with the CAPPS ERP. The ideal candidates would have previous experience working with CAPPS core modules (AP/AM/GL/Purchasing/Procurement).  The work will involve analyzing and understanding CAPPS user technical and functional requirements for a solution to replace Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) and the Texas Identification Number System (TINS) with a SaaS product requiring some customization for the integration efforts.             

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 8 years hands on experience of concepts, practices and procedures related to governmental accounting budget and payee systems
  • 5+ years of experience using USAS, TINS, or SPA (State Property Accounting)
  • Strong previous experience in the use of PeopleSoft, or other CAPPS ERP systems
  • Ability to manage upgrades and modification legacy financial enterprise systems
  • Cost saving budget and operating plans development background
  • Previous experience with system testing and documentation
  • Proficiency working in an Agile environment within SDLC
  • Provide consultation to business users and technical resources while collaborating effectively across multiple subject matter groups
  • Prior experience with re-engineering business processes and identifying new applications to make the business more effective/efficient
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, TEAMS, Microsoft Project, Word, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of JIRA environment and Microsoft SharePoint
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal business users to evaluate business needs, analyze processes, and document decisions for the procured software
  • Create user stories from gathering requirements for the procured software
  • Prepare detailed specifications for the integration of application(s)
  • Participate in project management, direction, planning, and development in an Agile environment
  • Provide system expertise and functional/technical support to other team members
  • Provide functional and technical capability for legacy mainframe systems, PeopleSoft and/or other ERP modules
  • Prepare mockups, charts, diagrams, and tables that depict the present and/or proposed requirements
  • Review, coordinate and gather historical legacy data for migration into procured software of the IT division’s data warehouse, where applicable
  • Participate in user acceptance testing for the implementation of user stories into production environment.
  • Take ownership of reported issues and complete assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner reporting progress project leadership
