Deputy CIO
Permanent Opportunity
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid 3days/week onsite is required)


Overview
The Deputy CIO will be responsible for leading strategic projects and increasing the robustness of the technology landscape while working with operational technology and teams including: IT infrastructure (systems, network, and physical security), software development, technical support, enterprise systems and business intelligence.  The successful candidate should also be able to evaluate and provide metrics and controls to reduce technical debt, in addition to managing the daily operations of much of the IT department.

Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in IT roles of progressively increasing responsibility
  • 7+ years of related work experience leading an IT organization of at least 50 individuals
  • 5+ years of experience in a technology leadership role leading project and operational budgeting
  • 3+  years of experience with multi-location IT service management
  • Extensive experience leading both hardware and software focused operational IT teams
  • Working knowledge of modern IT infrastructure solutions, enterprise business systems, and software development practices including; On-premise data centers; Cloud-based infrastructure; Network and telecommunications technology; Continuous improvement based software development; Top tier enterprise business systems (industry leading ERPs, CRMs, etc.)
  • Experience with assessing managed technology service needs and selecting managed service partners
  • Proven knowledge of best-practices in information security as it relates to both back-end systems as well as front-end software and data solutions

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology or Business-related field of study such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or Business Information Systems
  • Master’s degree in IT, Business, or related field of study preferred

Responsibilities
  • Lead technology transformation projects as it pertains to scope, project completion deadlines and within approved budgets
  • Participate in defining project and team goals
  • Report data in various formats showing the performance of IT functional
  • Make recommendations for changes/improvements as needed to enhance performance
  • Lead a team (directors and their reports) in the creation and/or refinement of service catalogs, operating procedures, service and operating level agreements (SLAs/OLAs), and success metrics
  • Manage ongoing relationships with 3rd party product and service providers
  • Manage the operating budget for projects and teams
  • Establish formal standards and practices in ITIL-based IT Service Management (request and incident management) and IT change management areas
