Senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Location: Austin, Texas (ONSITE 4 days/week) Contract Position: 18 month Contract (with strong potential for extension and career advancement)
We are urgently seeking a highly experienced Senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to lead and support enterprise-wide information security efforts. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and mission-critical environment where cybersecurity is a top priority.

Minimum Qualifications:
10 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, including as an ISSO or equivalent role.
9 years of experience applying the NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and applicable state-level security standards.
8 years of experience conducting and documenting risk assessments, including supporting documentation and reporting.
Active Security+ certification or equivalent (e.g., CISSP, CISM).
Experience working under and managing critical project timelines.
Strong ability to communicate complex technical security topics to both technical teams and business stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and monitor security measures aligned with the NIST Risk Management Framework and applicable state-level standards.
Coordinate the development and deployment of system security plans with both internal teams and external vendors.
Engage with users to assess access controls, account permissions, and potential security violations.
Provide expert guidance to leadership and technical staff on secure configurations and procedures.
Design and recommend strategies to protect information systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other threats.
Contribute to the development and refinement of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Conduct technical security assessments on both new and existing systems, including data center and physical security environments.
Research and recommend modern tools and processes for identifying, preventing, and responding to security threats and incidents.
Perform other security-related duties as assigned.
