ServiceNow (CMDB) Specialist Location: Austin, Texas (ONSITE 5 days/week) Contract Position: 18 month Contract (with strong potential for extension and career advancement)
We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow CMDB Specialist with deep expertise in Configuration Management Database (CMDB) strategy and execution. This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the CMDB to ensure data accuracy, governance, and alignment with business and ITIL best practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
8+ years of experience in software development, design, and architecture.
5+ years of hands-on experience in CMDB design, development, and management, including CSDM methodology.
Strong knowledge of the ITIL framework, particularly Configuration, Change, and Incident Management.
Expertise with the ServiceNow platform, including scripting (JavaScript, Jelly, AngularJS) and workflow automation.
Solid understanding of data modeling, relational databases, and CMDB schema design.
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
Experience integrating ServiceNow with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Stakeholder and relationship management capabilities with internal and external partners.
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive CMDB strategy aligned with business goals and ITIL best practices.
Evaluate and improve CMDB performance using platforms like ServiceNow to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and operational efficiency.
Establish and manage a cross-functional governance team and audit processes for CMDB oversight.
Define and enforce CI naming conventions and lifecycle management processes.
Oversee CMDB population through discovery tools (e.g., ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping), data imports, and integrations.
Define and manage CI relationships to reflect accurate service and infrastructure dependencies.
Ensure CMDB supports ITSM processes including Incident, Change, and Asset Management.
Monitor CMDB performance metrics, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
Provide expert guidance on CMDB-related modules such as Event Management, Orchestration, and Service Mapping.
Stay up to date on platform enhancements and emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions.
Lead design reviews and recommend improvements to CMDB processes and architecture.
Develop, document, and enforce data governance processes, standards, and audit controls.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk, Security, Operations, and Asset Management.
Mentor and educate technical teams on CMDB best practices.
Generate insights and reporting from the CMDB to support business decisions
