The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience administering GitLab at scale, implementing CI/CD standards, managing user access and integrations, and ensuring the environment remains secure, compliant, and highly available.

Required Qualifications

  • GitLab Certified Admin or GitLab Certified CI/CD Specialist
  • Prior contributions to GitLab or related open-source automation platforms

  • Proficiency with scripting (Bash, Python, or Go) for automation tasks
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Working experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes; migration exposure to Podman/Buildah is a plus)
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud services
  • Experience with legacy CI/CD systems (Jenkins, Automic, Bamboo, Maven)
  • Strong knowledge of source control tools (Bitbucket, Git, SVN)
  • Understanding of security scanning, compliance controls, and container hardening
  • Experience working in Agile or GitOps-driven environments
  • Strong communication and support skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally

Primary Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize the enterprise GitLab platform
  • Manage GitLab Runners, Projects, Groups, Permissions, and integrations
  • Support the migration from Jenkins and Automic to GitLab CI/CD
  • Implement enterprise authentication and hardening settings (LDAP, SAML/SSO, RBAC, backup policies)
  • Build and maintain standardized, secure CI/CD pipeline templates and YAML configurations
  • Implement and support multi-stage and parallel workflows
  • Integrate and maintain security tools (SAST, DAST, container scanning, compliance checks)
  • Assist teams in translating legacy Jenkins/Automic pipelines into GitLab workflows
  • Improve performance and reliability through caching, artifact management, and pipeline optimization
  • Support the transition of container build processes from Docker to Podman
  • Use Terraform/Ansible to automate GitLab and environment provisioning
  • Apply GitOps practices for managing configuration and deployment processes
  • Develop documentation, operational runbooks, and training materials for end users
  • Monitor GitLab system health, logs, metrics, and runner performance using Prometheus/Grafana/ELK
  • Provide troubleshooting support for CI/CD issues, runner failures, pipeline errors, and GitLab service incidents
