We are seeking a Senior Terraform Platform Engineer with deep expertise building Azure cloud foundations using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code. This role is for engineers who can deliver production-grade Terraform modules, implement secure landing zones, and automate cloud environments at scale with strong engineering rigor.

The ideal candidate builds reusable modules teams deploy consistently across environments, manages Terraform state and Git-based workflows with discipline, and integrates provisioning into CI/CD pipelines. This position supports landing zones, cloud foundations, and migration-ready architectures across Azure (preferred) or AWS, with an emphasis on repeatability, governance, security, and CI/CD-driven provisioning. Azure Government Cloud or AWS GovCloud experience is a plus, but Terraform mastery is the top priority.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation with a strong Azure focus
  • Expert-level Terraform experience including module development and composable architecture, remote state and locking strategy, workspace and environment patterns, dependency management, advanced troubleshooting of complex plans and applies, CI/CD integration with Git-based workflows, and consistent standards for naming, tagging, variables, outputs, and versioning
  • Experience building secure Azure infrastructure across compute, networking, identity, and monitoring
  • Strong understanding of IaC engineering principles including automation, repeatability, lifecycle management, and environment consistency
  • Experience building Azure Landing Zones using Microsoft-aligned patterns including management groups, subscriptions, policy guardrails, and hub and spoke networking
  • Experience supporting highly regulated environments such as Azure Government Cloud or AWS GovCloud
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and DoD IL levels
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to support automation and platform operations
  • Relevant certifications:
    • Azure: AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-700, AZ-500
    • AWS: Solutions Architect, SysOps, Security

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Terraform subject matter expert, building reusable modules and enforcing Infrastructure as Code best practices across teams
  • Design and deploy Azure landing zones and cloud foundations including subscriptions, RBAC, policies, network patterns, and core shared services
  • Implement secure and scalable infrastructure through Terraform to support application migrations and modernization initiatives
  • Engineer core cloud patterns across networking, identity and access, governance, and monitoring, including VNets, subnets, route tables, private endpoints, segmentation, RBAC, managed identities, least privilege, policy enforcement, Azure Policy and initiative design, tagging standards, guardrails, logging, metrics, alerting integrations, and platform observability
  • Integrate Terraform into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools with quality gates, approvals, and repeatable deployment workflows
  • Partner with DevOps, security, and engineering teams to define scalable automation standards, guardrails, and secure delivery patterns
  • Maintain technical documentation including IaC design documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation standards, and operational runbooks
