Systems Security Engineer

Location: North Dallas area (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
We are excited to partner with our client in the search for a Systems Security Engineer protect the organization’s critical data and infrastructure. who will play a key role bridging Technology Operations and Information Security. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role within a small, collaborative IT team, with influence across infrastructure, cloud environments, and security controls.
This position is ideal for someone who started in systems or network engineering and has expanded into security, with strong working knowledge of cloud platforms, identity and access management, and practical security controls that balance protection with user experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in information security or related disciplines
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, or equivalent are preferred
- Strong experience with security tools and platforms related to identity management and access control, such as Okta and CyberArk
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure); deep expertise in one is acceptable
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft enterprise platforms, including Azure, Active Directory, SQL, Office 365, and Windows OS patching and vulnerability management
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, access controls, and endpoint security
- Experience reviewing logs, identifying issues, and implementing preventative controls
- Solid understanding of current cybersecurity trends and ethical hacking principles
- Ability to balance security best practices with operational feasibility and user experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical bridge between IT Operations and Information Security
- Evaluate, implement, and manage practical security controls across cloud and on-prem environments
- Review and assess proposed infrastructure or system changes to ensure appropriate security posture
- Monitor logs, investigate incidents, and recommend corrective actions (e.g., endpoint issues, access concerns, firewall controls)
- Manage and support Identity & Access Management (IAM) platforms, including Okta and CyberArk
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to transition and mature IAM ownership in-house
- Support and improve cloud security across AWS and/or Azure environments
- Work closely with network teams on firewall configurations, access controls, and security-related changes
- Partner with InfoSec on policy implementation while maintaining awareness of real-world infrastructure impacts
