Network Operations Lead Contract: 12-18 months Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid Onsite and Telework)
We are looking for a hands-on Network Operations Leader to support and guide day-to-day network operations across a large enterprise environment. This role is perfect for someone who leads by example, is strong technically, comfortable mentoring others, and able to step in on complex issues while helping keep operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate will act as a senior escalation point for complex issues and assist with key initiatives including SD-WAN optimization, observability improvements, and security integrations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
7+ years of experience in network engineering, administration, or support within enterprise environments
Experience in a Team Lead, Lead Engineer, or supervisory capacity (informal leadership is acceptable)
Experience supporting 24x7x365 network, voice, and video environments
Preferred experience with Cisco VoIP administration, maintenance, and design
Strong background in WAN, LAN, wireless, and SD-WAN technologies
Experience with network monitoring and observability tools (e.g., ThousandEyes, AppDynamics)
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to support high-priority incidents
Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering, Data Center, Telecom, and Security teams on cross-functional initiatives
Perform hands-on support of network operations including troubleshooting, incident management, and issue resolution
Serve as a senior escalation point for network-related issues
Responsible for assisting with coordination and prioritization of team workload
Gather and provide status updates, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership
Facilitate vendor coordination and support for network-related services
Support SD-WAN implementation and optimization efforts
Maintain network documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
Ensure adherence to security standards, policies, and compliance requirements
Work with cross-functional teams while assisting junior engineers and ensuring consistent service delivery
Participate in change management processes and documentation efforts
Support knowledge sharing and mentoring of team members
