Junior Information Security Analyst
Location: Austin, Texas (5 days onsite)
**MUST ALREADY RESIDE IN THE AUSTIN AREA FOR CONSIDERATION
Duration: 12-18 months


We are seeking a motivated Junior Information Security Analyst to assist in the planning, implementing, and monitoring of security measures for information systems and infrastructure. This position will provide opportunities for hands-on learning while working under the guidance and direction of senior security professionals. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of security frameworks, including the NIST Risk Management Framework, and will support various security tasks in the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of work experience related to information security or IT security.
  • Foundational knowledge of information security frameworks such as NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and industry standards.
  • Associate certifications from ISC2 (Associate of ISC2), Security+ or similar security certification.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong ability to communicate security topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of security practices and the ability to apply them to real-world systems.
  • Ability to assist in writing technical security reports and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, with an ability to review security controls and document vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take guidance from senior professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the implementation and management of the Secure System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Help coordinate the implementation of system security plans with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Assist in discussions with users to address account permission issues, data access needs, security violations, and programming changes.
  • Follow established plans to safeguard information systems from unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and ensure emergency data processing needs are met.
  • Participate in the development of IT disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Perform technical security assessments and reviews of new and existing applications and systems, including reviewing physical security and environmental controls at data centers.
  • Support the documentation and tracking of security risks, vulnerabilities, and remediation actions.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
