Our elite Austin client has a long-term contract opportunity for a Plan Review Engineer to join their team reviewing water quality controls, drainage analysis, and erosion hazard zone analysis. Using considerable latitude for independent judgment, this position with be a remote role performing engineering work that includes designing, planning, and overseeing work in support of construction, maintenance, alteration of structures, facilities, processes, equipment, and systems.
Education and Certification:
Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Engineering discipline
At least 4 years of experience in engineering (Civil, Environmental, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical)
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is highly preferred (or the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment)
Qualifications/Requirements:
Strong knowledge of fundamental scientific and civil engineering concepts
Knowledge of phases of the plans review and inspections processes
Knowledge of preparation of cost estimates and engineering and feasibility reports
Knowledge of regulatory requirements within Local and State ordinances and laws
Ability to perform complex engineering computations, calculus, geometry, and trigonometry, rapidly and accurately
Ability to interpret and explain maps and other related documents
Ability to organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate scientific civil engineering problems and provide practical, cost-effective solutions
Ability to determine operating and safety compliance standards
Ability to use blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids
Preferred Experience:
Experience with drainage analysis
Knowledge of water quality controls and erosion analysis
Experience using Land Development Code, Environmental Criteria Manual (ECM) and Drainage Criteria Manual (DCM)
Experience with GIS
General Duties:
Approve, process, and seal plans, specifications, construction documents by applying
Manage a variety of engineering projects (planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting)
Identify, evaluate, and provide improvement recommendations with preliminary and final designs
Provide technical assistance with project progress from design through completion
Write technical specifications for construction contracts
Review plans and approve permits in accordance with Local and State regulatory requirements
Inspect and monitor projects for legal compliance
Monitor contract progress by reviewing, negotiating, and writing contract change orders as necessary
Develop standard policies and procedures for projects and various contracts
