Security Engineer – Vulnerability Management #1624

Security Engineer – Vulnerability Management
Contract – 12-24 months
Location – Austin, TX (Hybrid – 2 days onsite)

We are adding strong resources to our Security team.  The ideal Candidate will have a solid background in Vulnerabilities Assessments and Remediation and previous experience and administration of the Tenable Scanning application.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Any of the following Security Certifications (GSEC, CompTIA Security + CISA, CISM, CCSP, CEH or CISSP)
  • Strong experience with Tenable.io and Nessus vulnerability scanning tools
  • Tuning and Configuration of tenable
  • Creating tenable scans and target groups
  • Reporting on scan output
  • Experience in large network environment with over 30k active hosts
  • Ability to develop custom reports with Excel
  • Ability to communicate Risk to teams
  • Strong experience with administration and deployment and configuration of Network Security monitoring and incident response tools (EDR, Scanners, SIEM, Netflow, etc)
  • Experience with intrusion detection and incident response activities
  • Preferred background with the CISCO security suite of tools
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft EDR, Sentinel and Tenable
  • Previous experience in a government agency environment is highly desirable
       
General Duties:
  • Execute vulnerability scanning of internal and external network
  • Identify software and rogue devices and document vulnerabilities and track remediation with app teams
  • Design and develop dashboards that represent key performance and risk indicators and metrics across testing
  • Update dashboards that represent key performance and risk indicators and metrics across testing
  • Assist in the creation, verification and dispersion of both routine and ad hoc reports
  • Identify areas of risk requiring security testing and development of controls and notify identified vulnerabilities and misconfigurations
  • Ensure the solutions are configured  or re-configured to the organization’s requirements
  • Refine patching process to ensure that results of the scans are communicated to the appropriate operational teams responsible for ensuring vulnerabilities and misconfigurations and ensure they are mitigated or remediated in accordance with agency policy
  • Build configuration baselines
  • Ongoing administration of the Tenable application including coordinating with operational team for patching
