Mainframe z/OS Developer
Contract Length:  12+ months

Location: Remote, TX -  must be located in the State of Texas
****The Consultant can work remotely but must physically reside in the state of Texas****
 

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer to provide senior-level systems administration and technical leadership for enterprise mainframe environments. This role involves supporting legacy systems, contributing to modernization initiatives, and ensuring reliable day-to-day operations across critical mainframe platforms and related infrastructure.


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 5+ years z/OS systems programming experience
  • 5+ years with JES2, OMVS, and Storage Management Subsystem (SMS)
  • 3+ years with TSS (Top Secret Security)
  • 3+ years performance monitoring and analysis
  • 2+ years REXX scripting experience
  • Some experience with Informatica Power Exchange Administration

 

Working knowledge of:

  • z/OS operations and networking (VTAM, TCP/IP)
  • Automated job scheduling (JOBTRAC), terminal emulation (BlueZone), VTAM/SWITCH
  • SMP/E, RMF, SMF, WLM, JCL
  • GRS, VSAM, TSO
  • TLS/SSL certificate configuration (RSA Keys, SFTP, FTPS)
  • SCLM or similar configuration management tools
  • CPM for JOBTRAC

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert-level administration and support for z/OS operating systems, system components, and related software.
  • Perform system configuration, break/fix troubleshooting, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and routine maintenance.
  • Manage and support CICS, IMS™, JES2, SMS, OMVS, and related z/OS subsystems.
  • Support mainframe operations within an enterprise data center environment and collaborate with networking, application, and support teams.
  • Provide administration and end-user support for ISV tools such as BlueZone and SCLM.
  • Assist with capacity planning, system tuning, and systems library and parameter management.
  • Diagnose and resolve platform and software issues, including thorough root-cause analysis.
  • Support integration testing of new products and mainframe job scheduling/production control activities.
  • Contribute technical expertise to modernization and transformation initiatives.
  • Optional plus: experience with Informatica Power Exchange for Change Data Capture (CDC) with IMS and VSAM sources/targets.
