Education and Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Must have at least 4+ years of accounting work experience
  • Good understanding of statutory accounting principles and statutory financial statement filings
  • Prior experience in preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries and month-end financial closings
  • Some experience in investment and statutory reporting in the insurance industry is highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of General Ledger Systems and Regulatory Filing Systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office including Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written

Our client, a high profile trusted provider of insurance and annuity products is looking for an Investment Accountant to join their team in the DFW metroplex.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly and quarterly closing processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries for investment and insurance activities
  • Prepare general ledger  and par value account reconciliations
  • Communicate with multiple brokers and state banks and other trading desk activities
  • Create monthly financial reports regarding investment holdings
  • Prepare schedules and exhibits of quarterly and annual statutory statements
  • Assist in preparation of audited statutory financial statements
  • Support other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Respond to requests from external auditors, external rating agencies and regulatory bodies
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen internal procedures and efficiencies.
  • Assist quarterly and annual statutory statements including schedules and exhibits prepared in accordance with statutory accounting principles (SAP)
  • Assist in preparation of audited statutory financial statements including footnotes
  • Perform other department and/or company-related assignments as assigned
