VMware Horizon VDI Support Engineer Contract Length: 12-18 months+ Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid 3 days onsite)
We are looking for a VDI Support Engineer to serve as a key technical resource for supporting and maintaining our client’s VMware Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure. This hands-on role involves providing comprehensive support across all levels (L1–L3), managing desktop pools, maintaining golden images, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the performance, security, and usability of the VDI environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Preferred: VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM)
Certifications such as VCP-DTM, ITIL Foundation, or CompTIA A+ are highly desirable
3+ years in IT support roles with at least 2 years supporting VDI enterprise environments
Experience with VMware Horizon View (7.x or 8.x), including Connection Server, Composer, and Agent
Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Active Directory, and Group Policies
Hands-on experience with Horizon Administrator/Console, vSphere Client, and basic PowerShell scripting
Experience with golden image creation, application packaging, and Windows patching
Experience with persistent/non-persistent desktop pools including linked/instant clones
Familiarity with FSLogix, profile management, user data redirection
Integration of VDI with MFA, antivirus, and DLP tools
Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Horizon Help Desk Tool, vROps, ControlUp)
Knowledge of Jira, ServiceNow, or other ITSM platforms
Must have strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills
Strong customer focus with a commitment to delivering exceptional support experiences
Capable of working both independently and effectively within a team environment
Flexible and quick to adapt in a fast-changing technical landscape
Daily Responsibilities:
Provide Level 1–3 support for Horizon VDI issues: session performance, access, printing, and user profiles
Create, update, and manage golden images, including app packaging, configuration, and patching
Troubleshoot VDI application functionality in partnership with app owners
Create and maintain desktop pools (persistent and non-persistent) in Horizon Administrator/Console
Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for recurring issues
Manage user access and entitlement to VDI resources
Monitor system health, usage, and capacity, and generate performance reports
Test and deploy Horizon updates, patches, and version upgrades
Collaborate with infrastructure teams on network, storage, and host-related issues
Document standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and FAQs
Coordinate UAT testing for new images and configurations with stakeholders
Support onboarding and user training for virtual desktop access
Participate in change management for VDI-related initiatives
